University of Applied Sciences Burgenland celebrates first joint doctorates

Highest academic degree awarded to the first four graduates of the Joint International Cooperative PhD Program in International Economic Relations and Management

Eisenstadt, 14 May 2019 – The UAS Burgenland cooperates with six international partner universities within the framework of two unique doctoral programmes. "About five years ago, we were pioneers in the organisation of cooperative, cross-border and international doctoral programmes," explains programme director Irena Zavrl. On 11 May, the first four alumni graduated in the festive atmosphere of Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt, Austria. Among the most prominent guests were the rectors and vice-rectors of the partner universities:  University of Bratislava (Slovak Republic), University of Pula (Croatia), University of Sopron (Hungary), University North(Croatia), University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic). The academic oath was given by the rector of the University of Sopron, Prof. Dr. Sc. András Náhlik. The UAS Burgenland also awarded two honorary professorships during the event.

CEEPUS Freemover mobility in Austria

In late April and early May, Assoc. Prof. Petar Kurečić performed a research stay at the Department and Institute of Political Science, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University Innsbruck, Austria. Prof. Kurečić was invited by Assoc. Prof. Martin Senn, Head of the Department. During the visit, discussions on future ERASMUS+ cooperation and a possible application for the CEEPUS network were conducted. Initial preparations for future applications to the Jean Monnet and Horizon 2020 projects, where partners would be both institutions, were also held. Given the previously established contacts with the Liechtenstein Institute, Prof. Kurečić also visited the Liechtenstein Institute and held talks on future co-operation on project applications. This research stay was fully funded by means of the CEEPUS Freemover Scholarship.

Erasmus + mobility of professor Damira Keček, phD

In the period from 1 to 5 April 2019, as part of Erasmus + Outgoing Mobility of Teaching Staff,  Damira Keček, phD attended the Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Czech Republic. In addition to lectures at the Faculty of Economics and Management, during her stay at the Czech University of Life Sciences, Damira Keček,phD participated in the visit of other faculties and established new contacts for further scientific research and mobility. This Erasmus + Mobility is a continuance of many years of successful cooperation between the University North and the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.

A guest lecture was held at the Department of Nursery within Erasmus + Exchange

In the period from 23 to 26 April 2019, the teachers of the High School of Health Sciences Slovenj Gradec (Slovenia) - Danica Železnik, phD (the Republic of Finland), and Uroš Železnik, a master of health care.

Teachers gave lectures to the students of the 3rd year of nursing studies, they visited the workshops of the practice classes and exchanged their experiences with teachers and students.

Meeting of representatives of University North and Uzhhorod National University

Representatives of University North headed by professor Marin Milkovic phD, University North rector, visited Uzhhorod National University (UzhNU) during the period from 16 to 19 April, 2019. During the visit, a series of important meetings were held, and the most important meeting was with the rector of UzhNU, professor Vladimir Smolanka, MD DSc. The rectors’ meeting was held on the mutual initiative, and as a continuation of the long-standing contacts of the Varaždin and Uzhhorod scientists (Kranjčec-Studenjak, 1986), and the cooperation between UNIN and UzhNU.

University North in co-operation with the European Commission on April 16, 2019 at 16 :00 (UNIN2-110) within the programme 'Back to University' organized a lecture titled 'What is the European Union and what does it do for me?'. The lecture was held by Vlado Cetl, phD.

Information Day organized by the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes

On April 5, 2019 from 10.00 to 14.00, in the hall UNIN 1-110 at University North an event was held called the Information Day on the topic of Marie Sklodowska-Curie, Erasmus + and CEEPUS . The event was organized by the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes (AMPEU) and University North . The event was held with the aim of informing teaching and non-teaching staff and students about EU programmes and opportunities they provide. Participants of this event were welcomed by the vice-rector for Scientific and Artistic Work and International Cooperation, Associate Professor Anica Hunjet, phD.
