Department of Business and Management in the Media

The Department carries out an undergraduate professional study of “Business and Management in the Media” in the area of economic sciences that enables the students to acquire skills and competencies that are closely related to modern management and the media industry and to the study of the environment in which the manager works and operates. The study lasts for three years and upon its completion, the student acquires 180 ECTS credits and the academic title of ‘Bachelor of Business and Management’ (bacc.oec.). The study program has been carried out at the institution since the academic year 2012/2013. For all the courses covered by the study plan and program, the syllabi with learning outcomes have been made; units and chapters analyzed during the courses have been defined, along with the student obligations, exam procedures and the criteria on the basis of which the final grade is given. The aim of the study program is to introduce the students to the main factors which influence the development of media industries and to explain to them the wider meaning of media trends. Throughout the study, students will acquire the basics of management and its various aspects through intensive class work, homework and practical work experience. Students will also become acquainted with the postulates of work organization in the media and the theoretical foundations in the areas of microeconomics and macroeconomics. Furthermore, they will become acquainted with corporate communication, methodology and application of media research, infotainment, and the new media trends. They will master the basics, acquire the skills and competencies on how to apply critical analysis on current or disputable issues in the management of a company, and develop awareness on the responsibilities of managers in the economic, social and political context. Upon the completion of the study, students acquire qualifications needed to take employment in publishing, media companies, marketing or public relations agencies, consultant firms, public institutions or some other business managerial environment.
